Our childcare center is focused on encouraging each child to be a happy
and self-confident individual witht the cooperation of the parent, teacher
and administration. We want each child to have a sense of belonging,
a feeling of uniqueness, the freedom to be themselves and to learn the
importance of respecting each other. We will provide a supportive and
nurturing environment, through the approach of our staff, the age-appropriate
activities and the decor of the building. Our goal is for the children to feel
comfortable and at ease in order to develop their own individuality while
learning to also respect that of others.
Learning about oneself and one's peers is the best learning that parents can
provide in the preschool years. The one this that I'd like for all children to
feel about themselves at this age is I'm important. Everyone likes me!
Touch Points, T. Barry Brazelton, MD
When we plant a rose seed in the earth, we notice that it is small, but we
do not criticize it as rootless or stemless. We treat it as a seed giving it the
water and nourishment required of a seed. When it first shoots up out of the
earth, we do not condemn it as immature and undeveloped; nor do we criticize
the buds for not being open when they appear. We stand in wonder at the
process taking place and give the plant the care it needs at each stage of its
development. The rose is a rose from the time it is a seed to the time it dies.
Within it, at all times, it contains its whole potential. It seems to be constantly
in the process of change; yet at each stage, at each moment, it is perfectly
all right as it is.
